back porch surgery on my hematoma in oregon

I hit my shin on concrete a week before high cascade snowboard camp. Luckily the hematoma formed above my snowboard boot. After 4 days of riding I found a doctor who was willing to drain it.

It didn’t hurt that …
It didn’t hurt that bad; it was the camera guy screaming, not me. I ume that the procedure would be similar if done at a clinic. At a clinic they would have better supplies that we did, they probably would have used a scalpel or a syringe to drain it instead of a razor blade.

I have a hematoma …
I have a hematoma in my right knee.
It’s getting really big, I think I’m going to have to have it drained.
How much did it hurt? Is the procedure the same at a clinic?

The guy kneeling on the right asks “saline?” while doc’s rustling the plastic. “Yeah.”
He mentions peroxide at about 2:10, saying “we can irrigate it with that a little bit.”

Your doc said it …
Your doc said it was hydrogen peroxide (H202).
Also, salt water doesn’t foam like that when it hits blood.
Either way, it’s fairly safe since it was a hematoma. It’s just an empty pocket after all that blood is gone and long since cut off from the main arteries and veins.

it was saline solution. it prevents blood from clotting. it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be.
