I'm perhaps somewhat biased, but would (and did, for my own) choose a neurosurgeon to do my spine surgery.
Neurosurgeons are trained in spine (as well as brain and nerve) as part of their residency (7 year program) so they do years of procedures under their chief as opposed to orthopedic surgeons that learn [...]

I have an appt with a neurosurgeon next month to see if the nerve can be released…all of this is new to me. Does any one have advice or things that have worked for you. I have a brace that allow's me to drive etc but it is very cumbersome, and Finding shoes is [...]

It's absolutely true that SOME spine surgeries do not give a satisfactory result and equally true, imo, that the majority DO have good results.
A difficulty in operating on the spine, is that while a surgeon can take pressure off of a nerve - recovery of a nerve is basically up to the nerve. [...]
