HELP! My back pain is getting worse all the time, I am 19 years old. My doc wants another MRI and surg consult

January 31st, 2009

The MRI I had two years ago showed multiple lymph nodes in my neck(what does this mean), bulging disks in all of my cervical disks except one. A disk herniation at T5 that has contact with the cord. Degenerative disk disease, and scheurmanns disease. What should I do? Does anyone else have experince with this? Will a orthopedic surgeon even perform surgery on a 19 year old???
I also have alot of pain!! Headaches are occuring on a daily basis. i've tried physical therapy, NSAID's, rest, exercise.

Get a consult with a neurosurgeon, I saw one that specialized in spine and brain injury. He operated on my herniated disk at L3-4. He ONLY removed the portion of the disk that was herniated, no spinal fusion!

The disk herniation at T5 is probably in contact with the nerve root as it exits your spinal column.

Most everyone has degerative disk disease and yes it's possible at your age if you have been very physically active in sports, such as track and gymnastics.
